To celebrate the 50th anniversary of the iconic El Primero, Zenith hosted Michel Vermot, as well as watch collectors, enthusiasts and media for an intimate dinner at Le Grenier Club in New York City. In addition, the brand also revealed its special edition El Primero A384 to mark the occasion.

“The El Primero movement not only revolutionized the world of watchmaking, but also changed the history of the Zenith brand,” began Julien Tornare, Zenith CEO. “Celebrating a movement is unique to Zenith and we are proud to commemorate the refinement and exceptional innovation of the El Primero on its 50th anniversary. We gave life to a special piece of Zenith history with the A384 Revival, providing a retrospective glance evoking the period when the El Primero movement was saved.”

As guests sipped on Ruinart Champagne, they also enjoyed live music from the band House of Waters, as well as a live vocal performance from singer Priya Darshni. Le Grenier Club also welcomed guests to peruse the private pop-up club in The Magic Room at LVMH Tower.

Zenith notably revolutionized the luxury timepiece industry when it introduced the first ever automatic chronograph, the El Primero calibre, with 36,000 vibrations per hour. With a 50-hour power reserve, it is especially impressive that it is the world’s most accurate chronograph. The El Primero A384 was the first watch with to include this movement, and so the El Primero A384 Revival is an ode to the brand’s 50 years of innovation. The new model has a vintage look coupled with contemporary finishes, complete with a black alligator leather strap, just like the original while the integrated metal ladder bracelet version is reminiscent of the 1969 El Primero A384 version. The watch is, of course, powered by the El Primero 400 chronograph movement.
