1969 is one of the most important years in the history of Zenith, as the brand not only launched their famed El Primero but also introduced the very first Defy. This collection would grow to become one of the pillars for the brand, which it still is today. To mark this momentous beginning, Zenith is launching the Defy Revival A3642, a watch with a distinct vintage flair and a generous dose of character.

A lot of that character comes from the octagonal case combined with a bezel featuring fourteen facets. Zenith resisted the temptation to make the watch larger and opted for a diameter of 37mm. That makes it perfectly proportioned. The dial is also a treat, with a gradient color that runs from beige in the center to deep brown on the edge. It turns the Defy Revival A3642 into a true eye-catcher. The faceted hands, filled with Super-Luminova, and bold hour markers, make this a very legible watch. The date, a complication appreciated by many, is tucked away between the markers for four and five o’clock. It is a tradition at Zenith to do it like this, more so because it doesn’t interfere with the overall design.

This Defy wouldn’t be a Defy if a manufacture movement didn’t power it. In this case, it is Elite caliber 670, an automatic movement running at 4 Hz, with a power reserve of 50 hours. It features a newly designed star-shaped oscillating weight, which can be admired through the sapphire caseback. Zenith underscores the vintage feel by fitting the Defy Revival A3642 with a classic “ladder” bracelet, perfectly matching the style of the case and dial. The watch is limited to 250 pieces and is available at Zenith’s physical boutiques and their website.
