By Martin Green February 26, 2018

Christophe Claret reimagined his Maestro into the habitat of one of the fiercest and most dangerous snakes in the world, the Mamba! Fortunately for its owners, it is a highly detailed snake made from pink gold painted with green SpectraCoat, which houses on the dial.

With a case crafted from black PVD-treated grade 5 titanium, the Maestro Mamba is a watch full of contrast, but above all, it is a Maestro. This means that it is still fitted with mechanical hand-wound caliber DMC16, which not only has an impressive power reserve of seven days but also displays the date by means of a cone.

The top part of the cone indicates the tens, while the lower part shows the single units. This is not only a novel way of displaying the date, yet also one that is very easy to read. What also remained in the Maestro Mamba is the Memo-function. Topped with a Tsavorite, the owner of the watch can use this function to remind him/her of an event or occasion.

With a diameter of 42mm it is a large watch but not overly so. Christophe Claret makes good use of the space, and many of the watch signature features are visible on the dial side. The Mamba does make the watch more interesting, as it adds an extra dimension to the dial. The snake, although miniature, really seems to come to life, giving the watch a unique character.
Christophe Claret is a man who knows that details matter, and that is also why the green strap is made from the skin of a Mamba. While it may not be a watch for everybody, for those This watch is limited to 28 pieces and costs CHF 96.000,- (ex.VAT).
