The Rolls-Royce Cullinan Makes Its US Debut At 2018 Monterey Car Week Alongside Fleet Of Bespoke Creations
The highly anticipated Rolls-Royce Cullinan—the luxury automobile brand’s first SUV model—made its American public debut at Monterey Car Week. It headlined a fleet of Bespoke creations, making for an incredibly strong presence at the 2018 Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance, which resonated among attendees.
“Monterey Car Week is one of the world’s premier luxury motor car events, so it is fitting that we showcase the finest Bespoke motor cars in the world here, and also debut Cullinan, the Rolls-Royce of SUVs, to the American public,” began Torsten Müller-Ötvös, Chief Executive Officer, Rolls-Royce Motor Cars. “From the primacy of Phantom to the power of Cullinan, the Rolls-Royce presence at 2018 Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance has never been more compelling, and these Bespoke Rolls-Royces will grace these lawns as classics for generations to come.”
Four Cullinan models of varying colors and Bespoke configurations were arranged on the peninsula, with the Iguazu Blue exterior color also making its North American debut, alongside Charles Blue interior, Scivaro Grey highlights and open Paldao veneer. The other three models were showcased in Magma Red and Darkest Tungsten.
The Bespoke Rolls-Royce vehicles were, unsurprisingly, also head turners. The ‘Phantom in Fuxia’ was presented to renowned luxury car collector Michael Fux by CEO Müller-Ötvös. This is Fux’ 10th special Bespoke creation, among his collection of over 140 unique motor cars. This particular model will join his fleet that he uses for the fundraising of his charity, The Michael Fux Foundation, which supports children and their families at the Miami Children’s Hospital. The 2018 Black Badge Bespoke collection was also on display in Pebble Beach, showcasing the Umbra Collection; the Adamas Collection; the Paradisio Collection and the Nebula Collection.
Umbra Black Badge Collection
The Black Badge Umbra collection consists of the Ghost and the Wraith. The cars embody the darker side of Rolls-Royce, featuring Matte Black exterior finish, fully darkened chrome, 21 inch carbon alloy wheels, Anthracite interior, Mugello Red and Black highlights and a darkened Spirit of Ecstasy.
Dawn Black Badge Adamas Collection
Inspired by the ‘untamable’ and the ‘invisible’ nature of a diamond, the Dawn Black Badge Adamas is another darker version of Rolls-Royce, limited to only 30 Dawn Black Badge cars. The two-tone color scheme, consisting of Aphrodite Red over Black, is one of the most eye-catching cars on the road, especially because of the machined carbon fiber Spirit of Ecstasy, made with this finish for the first time in history.
The Paradiso Collection
Turning to the brand’s more colorful side, the Paradiso Collection of one Dawn, one Ghost and one Wraith uses the newly-developed Quail Blue exterior paint color, which was inspired by the Quail Motorsports Gathering and its beautiful views of the Californian water and sky. The interior color schemes of the car vary, with the Ghost in Black and Charles Blue leather, and the Wraith and Dawn with Mandarin. The interiors of the three cars vary in design. Ghost, which is more focused on the rear passenger’s comfort, reflects this visually with a more intimate and cool Black and Charles Blue leather color-way off set by Charles Blue and Mandarin stitching and a Black and Charles Blue two-tone steering wheel. Wraith and Dawn add more Mandarin into the interior color palate, increasing the visual heat and driver’s intent of the cockpit.
Nebula Collection
Drawing inspiration from the futuristic spacecraft and aerospace technology fields, the Nebula Collection includes the Black Badge Ghost, Wraith and Dawn. The exterior touts Iced Selby Grey coloring, while the interior is enveloped in Selby Grey and Black leather, with Sunset accents. A honeycomb-like shape is woven into the rear of each car, representing the honeycomb structure “used in some of the most ambitious and technologically advanced aerospace developments, from space telescope mirrors to space station windows,” per the brand.
