Richard Mille Donates Yohan Blake Tourbillon Prototype for Charity
Today luxury watchmaker Richard Mille announced that it will be donating the Yohan Blake Tourbillon Prototype to support Only Watch. The proceeds from the sale of this custom timepiece will benefit the Monegasque Association Against Muscular Dystrophy.
The Yohan Blake Tourbillon Prototype was developed specifically for Blake to wear at the 2012 London Olympic Games, where the sprinter won three medals. Based on the RM 038, this prototype was adapted to meet Blake’s specifications, with an all-white case in the super-light metal alloy magnesium WE 54 treated with an electro-plasma oxidation called Miarox®. The prototype also boasts the colors of Blake’s home country of Jamaica, with a green flange and crown, yellow minute-markers and a yellow Velcro® strap.
Richard Mille told us, “This prototype, which was worn by Yohan Blake during the London Olympic Games, created an enormous amount of media attention. It is a unique piece based upon the RM 038 but adapted to Yohan Blake’s specifications. This watch has experienced the joy of the podium and shared the spotlight with the gold and silver medals won by Yohan. It is truly a piece of historic importance.”
