Form and function fuse together to create the exceptional Princess R Class performance sports yacht, the first vessel of its kind.

Slated to debut in Cannes Yachting Festival in September 2018, the R35 is the stunning creation born out of a prestigious collaboration between Princess Yachts, the British luxury motor yachts manufacturer, Ben Ainslie Racing Technologies, the nautical experts behind Britain’s bid to win the America’s Cup, and luxury design house Pininfarina.

“With the R35 we wanted to convey pure Emotion. With the capital E” Paolo Pininfarina, Chairman of the eponymous company, said in a press statement. “The emotion felt by a child the first time he sees an airplane. The surprise for the unknown together with the wonder for the beauty and the power. The R35 embodies these three factors: an avant-garde yacht with an astonishing skin and a sprinter’s heart.”

A combination of innovation and revolution, the R35 is branded as the “progenitor” of a novel eon of yachting, one characterized by unmatched quality delivered by advanced technologies.

The yacht’s exterior boasts elegant lines that enhance speed and performance through aerodynamics, a crucial design concept Pininfarina has excelled at since its very inception. The company introduced the latest Computational Fluid Dynamics techniques of incorporating dual-purpose air intakes in the yacht bulwark.

The intakes collect air for the engines and, at the same time, blows away a tail vortex that improves the vessel’s aerodynamic behavior. Aesthetically, the wing covering the air intakes shapes the boat deadwork and stands out as a new icon.

Antony Sheriff, executive chairman of Princess Yachts, said, “The R35 is a rare mix of extreme elegance and technology. Often design is a triumph of beauty over function or function over beauty. Princess has been able to develop a technologically game-changing yacht that is also stunningly beautiful. It is in every way a new experience, yet also instantly recognizable as a Princes.”
