Luxury watchmaker Piaget has received the “Watch of the Year 2013” award. The Swiss manufacture received the accolade from the magazine Montres Passion for its ultra-thin Piaget Altiplano Date.

Franck Touzeau, Piaget’s Watch Marketing Director, accepted the Jury’s First Prize at the Montres Passion magazine gala evening on October 25.

The most outstanding feature of the Piaget Altiplano Date is undoubtedly the 1205P, the world’s thinnest automatic date movement at 3 mm, housed in a 6.36 mm case – a new double record. Crafted in white gold, pink gold or gem-set pink gold, the 40mm case was specially designed to house the 1205P calibre. The movement is adorned with traditional finishing, circular Côtes de Genève, circular-grained mainplate, bevelled bridges, sunburst wheels, blued screws, dedicated index assembly and a pink gold micro-rotor engraved with the Piaget coat-of-arms.

Piaget’s Altiplano small seconds won the same prize in 2008.
