With the upcoming Watches and Wonders right around the corner in 2023, Patek Philippe has given the watch industry plenty to converse about leading up to the main event. Between October and November this year, Patek released over ten new timepieces — with plenty of groundbreaking complications. One of the latest additions to the brand’s impressive repertoire is the new Ref. 5935A-001 self-winding World Time flyback chronograph — marking the first stainless steel version of the beloved model.

The hero of this timepiece is undeniably the dynamic dial. Exuding the signature sporty vintage aesthetic, Ref. 5935A features a carbon motif in the center of the opaline rose gilt dial, marrying the model’s heritage with a modern spirit. In addition, the hour markers are designed in charcoal gray with a luminescent coating, giving the ultimate vintage feel.

The 41mm stainless steel case and sapphire crystal case back is home to the self-winding mechanical movement, Caliber CH 28-520 HU, which combines the 30-minute flyback chronograph with a traditional world time of 24-hour and a day/night indication for the twenty-four time zones. The complicated movement is based on an exclusive patented mechanism that corrects all displays with a single pusher at 10 o’clock.

Finally, the incredibly complex timepiece is fitted with two different calfskin straps: one in grained taupe and the other in beige with a sophisticated nubuck finish. The Ref. 5935A dial is perhaps one of the most dynamic within the new Patek additions — ultimately setting the tone for an exciting year ahead.
