Omega Redesigns Iconic Seamaster Professional Diver 300M

Omega is marking the 25th anniversary of its Seamaster Professional Diver 300M by releasing 14 new models of the classic timepiece, six in stainless steel and eight in a mix of stainless steel and gold. The new models were unveiled at Baselworld 2018.

First released in 1993, the Diver 300M has had a loyal following and started Omega’s long-standing partnership with James Bond. For the most recent release, the watch received a complete makeover inside and out.

The diving bezel is now made of ceramic with the diving scale in Ceragold (a blend of ceramic and gold) or white enamel, which the brand says increases its whiteness and durability. The dials are made from polished ceramic and are available in black, blue or PVD chrome colors.

For one aspect of the watch, Omega went back to its origins but did so in a modern way by reintroducing the wavy pattern on the dial by using laser-engraving technology.

All indexes are raised and filled with Super-LumiNova and the date window is moved to 6 o’clock. Even the skeleton hands (rhodium-plated, 18k gold or blued) are subtly reshaped.

One of the Diver 300M’s most important details is its helium escape valve. For the new models, the valve now has a conical shape patented by OMEGA with a technological advancement that allows it to operate underwater.

The metal edge of the caseback has a wavelike pattern and the sapphire crystal provides a view of Omega’s Master Chronometer Caliber 8800 that has passed Swiss Federal Institute of Metrology (METAS) testing, designed to replicate true wearing conditions and show resistance to water and magnetic fields.

Each model comes with a metal bracelet with Omega’s patented extendable fold-over rack-and-pusher with a diver extension. It’s also available with a black or blue rubber strap.

Seamaster Diver 300M Titanium Tantalum Limited Edition
Along with the other Diver 300M models, Omega is releasing a limited edition version of the Diver 300M using tantalum, a rare, corrosion-resistant blue-gray metal first used by the watch brand with the introduction of the Diver 300M in 1998. It is available in a limited edition of 2,500 pieces.

In this version, tantalum is used for the base of the bezel, as well as in the middle links of the bracelet. The metal’s blue-grey tones offer a subtle contrast to the grade 2 titanium, which Omega uses for the brushed case and bracelet. In addition, Omega’s proprietary Sedna gold is used for the crown, bezel ring, helium escape valve, bracelet links and hands.

The rest of the watch is identical to the other Diver 300M models introduced by Omega.
