Lürssen Yachts launched 464-foot long superyacht named Nord
Lürssen Yachts is one of the world’s most recognized shipyard for custom luxury superyachts. Founded in 1875, the German shipyard has some breath-taking superyacht in its fleet includes superyachts like Octopus, Rising Sun, and Azzam. The latest launch from the shipyard is its largest superyacht yet, the 142-metre Nord.
Under construction for just under four years, this majestic superyacht gives luxury and designing a new meaning. The ship has now officially been handed over to its owner and leaves Germany on its maiden voyage.
“At Lürssen, we believe that to build a yacht, it is vital to work as a team and to execute such a comprehensive project, an excellent team is necessary,” says Managing Partner Peter Lürssen.
Nuvolari Lenard designs Nord with build management by Moran Yacht & Ship. The 10,000 GT superyacht is built from steel and aluminium to PYC standards. “Whether you like the design or not, it must strike you. Nord is a serious ship first and foremost, but she also transcends the traditional language of yacht design. She is a warship wearing a tuxedo, an explorer with the elegance of a gentleman’s yacht. We have entered a new direction in serious yacht design.”, says designer Dan Lennard from the Italian studio Nuvolari-Lenard.
The superyacht consists of six decks and can host up to 36 guests across 20 cabins. The superyacht also features a large helicopter landing deck aft with fold-down side platforms that act as a shelter to the yacht’s helicopter. The fold-down side platforms can be stored away in a retractable hangar, sliding into the structure when not in use. Nord also houses a significant sports and diving centre on the lower deck, while the oversized swimming pool is located on the main deck. An impressive fleet of 14 custom tenders, including two modified Windy SR52 Blackbirds, is situated in the garage. What’s more? Nord also carries a submarine and ROV for underwater exploration.

Nord is fitted with ‘zero speed stabilizers’ that work at anchor and increase the on-board comfort when the yacht is stationary, particularly in rough waters. The cruising speed for the superyacht is 15 knots, while the top speed reaches 20 knots. “At Lürssen, we believe that to build a yacht, it is vital to work as a team and to execute such a comprehensive project, an excellent team is necessary,” says the shipyard’s Managing Partner, Peter Lürssen.
Simply put, she is the culmination of striving for only the absolute best.
