Jacob & Co. Unveils $18 million Diamond Watch With Tourbillon (Live Pics, Specs And Pricing Information)
You don’t have to be a billionaire to buy the latest high jewellery masterpiece from Jacob & Co. but it would certainly help. The $18 million “Billionaire” watch, introduced by the brand during Baselworld 2015, officially became the most expensive timepiece combining a diamond-set timepiece with a tourbillon.
No need for deep pockets though, because this watch should be worn on the wrist at all cost. Haute Time had the privilege of being shown the new Billionaire by the brand’s founder and CEO, Mr. Jacob Arabo. One of the strongest and most animated personalities in the watch industry, even he was visibly most excited to unveil this piece out of this year’s incredible Jacob & Co. line-up.
Without a doubt, this is due to Mr. Arabo’s personal connection to the watch. The project marks the first collaboration between Mr. Arabo and Mr. Flavio Briatore, and celebrates the friendship between the jeweller and the owner of Billionaire Lifestyle SARL. Hence, the name of the watch, and the loud aesthetic of its design.
The skeleton timepiece features an 18K white gold case and bracelet, set with 260 carats of GIA certified emerald-cut diamonds which cover every inch of the rather large 58mm by 47.5mm watch. According to the brand, each individual gem weighs 3 carats, meaning the watch wears heavier than most timepieces in the market. But then again, it’s nice reminder of the exceptional timepiece one is wearing.
In fact, we were caught off guard by how comfortably the Billionaire feels around the wrist, as the case and bracelet seamlessly merge together around the wrist.
The owner of the Billionaire watch will sure to spend a great deal of time staring into one or more of the 239 emerald-cut baguette diamond stones, as even the gun blue skeltonized hands point to diamond hours markers.
The watch houses the JCAM09, a skeleton manual winding caliber made exclusively for Jacob and Co. It features 167 components, and boasts a power reserve of 72 hours. The back of the dial also features the Billionaire brand logo.
The Billionaire is available for $ 18,000,000. While the inaugural Billionaire watch is a unique piece, Mr. Arabo hinted at the idea of creating more iterations in the future with different gemstones.
