Introducing The Chopard Mille Miglia GTS Power Control Watch
Chopard put watch collectors in the driving seat in 2015 with a new Mille Miglia watch equipped with a power reserve indicator at 9 o’clock, and a brand new in-house movement under the hood.
The Chopard Mille Miglia GTS Power Control (for Grand Turismo Sport) is the latest watch in the Mille Miglia collection, which celebrates the eponymous car race in Italy, where Chopard has proudly served as Official Timekeeper for over 25 years. This year, Chopard has launched three GTS watches, including the Mille Miglia GTS Power Control (pictured), the Mille Miglia GTS Automatic and the Mille Miglia GTS Chronograph. All three contain the brand’s latest movement.
Developed by Fleurier Ebauches, a specialized workshop opened by Chopard in 2012, Calibre 01.08-C is an automatic movement that aims to place the brand on pole position on the sports watch grid. A COSC Chronometer certified movement, it boasts a whopping 60-hour power reserve cleverly displayed at 9 o’clock as a fuel gauge.
If that idea already made its way into the Chopard Classic Racing Superfast Power Control, it reappears with a vintage feel in the Mille Miglia GTS Power Control. In fact, the power reserve indicator is the first of many nods to the sports cars that marked the 20th century. The dashboard-like dial of the watch features oversized numerals at 6 and 12 o’clock and red accents throughout, including in the official Mille Miglia arrow logo that surrounds the date aperture at 3 o’clock.
If the case of this watch, measuring 43mm, is built like the chassis of the legendary sports cars that take part in the 1000 Mille Miglia race, the rubber strap also draws inspiration from the Dunlop tyres of classic 1960s cars. Built to perform under pressure, the Chopard Mille Miglia GTS Power Control, with its powerful movement, leaves other sports watches in its tracks.
The Chopard Mille Miglia GTS Power Control watch is available in 18k rose gold (pictured) for $22,390 or in stainless steel for $6,640.
