HYT Launches Captivating SOONOW
HYT is already known as a brand that likes to push the envelope, not only with their unique way of telling time through ‘fluid technology,’ but also in terms of design. The shape of the case provides HYT with the perfect canvas to take things to the next level in a way that no other watch manufacture can, and the new SOONOW is a perfect example of this.
The skull has been a reoccurring design element for HYT and serves as a reminder that every second count. With the SOONOW this important message is staring you in the face, through the eyeball of the skull, but it is also the contrast between the skull itself and the rest of the ‘dial’ that makes this such a captivating watch. 313 pins, made from 18 karat gold, were used to create the skull, placed on the titanium dial. The parts of the dial along the skull and the tube through which the time-indicating fluid runs, feature precision drilled holes in them, adding even more to the three-dimensional effect of this watch.
The eyeballs, mentioned earlier, also have a function as the right one serves as the power reserve indicator of the watch. The left eye socket has the words ‘soon’ and ‘now’ into them which run as seconds indicator, and a constant reminder that life does not wait for you. To aide the functionality of this watch are the hours indicated by words along the outline of the skull which are engraved in the sapphire crystal, while the metal bellows that pump the fluid through the tube are visible underneath the teeth of sthe skull.
HYT is releasing the SOONOW in two versions, each limited to 25 pieces. The first is combining a stainless steel case with a black DLC coating and green fluidic hours. The dial is titanium silver, and the pins that make up the skull are made from white gold. The second one uses a blue fluid to indicate the hours and has a stainless steel case, yet utilizes yellow gold pins for the skull. Both are powered by the movement which HYT developed together with Chronode. This manual wind caliber has a power reserve of 65-hours and runs at 4Hz. While the watch itself is a very modern creation, is the finishing of the movement a testimony of the old-school craftsmanship in which it is embedded. The bridges of the caliber are not only decorated with Côtes de Genève but also hand-beveled, making these watches truly exceptional pieces, inside and out.
