Hublot Teams Up With Depeche Mode to Support Charity: Water

Luxury watchmakers Hublot announced today that the manufacture has teamed up with the iconic band Depeche Mode in support of a good cause. The Swiss company and the British band are working together to raise funds for charity: water, a non-profit company founded to help bring safe drinking water to the developing world. Nearly 800 million people (nearly 1 out of every 9 people worldwide) lack access to safe drinking water.

The charity: water company is trying to tackle this epidemic, and to date has funded over 8,100 water projects, providing access to clean, safe drinking water to more than 3.2 million people in 20 countries. With this partnership, announced jointly by Depeche Mode, Hublot Chairman Jean-Claude Biver, and charity: water founder Scott Harrison, the company’s global impact aims to be even greater. At the announcement, Biver said; “No water, no life! Water is life and water should be available to everybody. Nobody should suffer from a lack of water. That’s why we try to help to share water. Sharing water means sharing life and sharing love.”

In support of the partnership, Hublot has launched the limited-edition Big Bang Depeche Mode timepiece, from which part of the proceeds of sales will go to charity: water. This black ceramic timepiece embodies the aesthetic of Depeche Mode while at the same time symbolizing the art of fusion that is the hallmark of Hublot. The Swiss manufacture is also launching an advertising campaign to raise awareness for charity: water, and during Depeche Mode’s Delta Machine tour, Hublot will host special in-store events.

Depeche Mode’s Martin Gore told us of the collaboration, “I have personally been a supporter and advocate of charity: water for a while now, so I’m thrilled that we as a band can expand our support for the organization and help to make significant difference in places around the world struggling without a proper supply of drinking water.”

This isn’t the first time Depeche Mode and Hublot have joined forces in support of a charity. In 2010, they came together to raise funds for the Teenage Cancer Trust by putting on a benefit show at London’s Royal Albert Hall, as well auctioning off exclusive boxes, each containing a Hublot watch with one of Depeche Mode’s twelve studio albums on its dial, along with the vinyl and digital version of each album, a golden framed CD and autographed stills.
