Hublot And Dustin Johnson Debut Golf’s Ultimate Watch: Big Bang Unico Golf

Swiss horologer Hublot presented the ultimate watch for one of the most precise sport – golf.

In the process of designing Big Bang Unico Golf, the manufacture had a savvy partner – world’s top golfer and brand ambassador, Dustin Johnson. With his unprecedented acumen for the game, Johnson has upended the rudiments of golf. His style and ability mirror Hublot’s dedication to revolutionize watchmaking – an alignment that only highlights the collaboration between Johnson and the brand.

“Dustin Johnson is recognized for his perfect timing – along with power, control and precision,” said CEO Hublot, Ricardo Guadalupe. “Golf watches exist, but they tend to be digital. His influence and impact on the game inspired Hublot’s new golf watch. Mechanically advanced, brilliantly functional, contemporary look and easy to use, it is a fusion of Hublot’s philiosophy and DJ’s signature; simple, intuitive and extremely effective.”

Big Bang Unico Golf carries Hublot’s MHUB1580 movement, which has been specially created to allow golfers to calculate their scores on the course. The chronograph features return-to-zero heart piece cams that ensure the precision of the counting mechanism. Counts dot the dial, from which various pushers jut out. The putter-shaped pusher at 2 o’clock activates the mechanism to display the tally of strokes, while the one at 4 o’clock resets the counter and lets the wearer move to the next hole. A counter at 6 o’clock keeps track of the total number of strokes, and a pusher at 8 o’clock brings the counter back to zero at the end of the round.

The elaborate workings of the complex aperture peek from under the skeletonized shell of the movement. The intricacies of the timepiece do not cease here, though. The case is rendered in Texalium, an amalgam of carbon fiber and aluminum that Hublot has exclusively developed. As a result, the watch is extremely lightweight – mere 97.93 grams.

“The Big Bang Unico Golf has a contemporary design and is easy to use,” said Johnson. “It has digital displays and is very light – less than 100 grams on the wrist. It has everything that I want from a golf watch and is the perfect fit.”

Big Bang Unico Golf comes with two interchangeable, One Click system-enabled straps – one made of white leather sewn on rubber and the other constructed of technical fabric with a Velcro fastener.
