Hublot And 13 Legendary Sportsmen Share How To Become Champion
How to become a champion?
Swiss luxury watchmaker, Hublot sought answers to the query from 13 of its band friends and ambassadors to celebrate the impending start of FIFA World Cup Russia 2018.
With less than a month to go, sports legends united behind Hublot’s campaign, a powerful blend of memorable words and imagery, to send out universal and positive messages about perseverance, humanity, humility, and, ultimately, success.
The acclaimed names who participated are Pelé; Diego Maradona; José Mourinho; Usain Bolt, international referee Bjorn Kuipers; Swiss international Xherdan Shaqiri; footballing icons, David Trezeguet, Marcel Desailly and Alexei Smertin; managers of the national teams playing at the FIFA World Cup 2018TM, Stanislav Cherchesov (Russia), Gareth Southgate (England), Julen Lopetegui (Spain), Didier Deschamps (France) and Hervé Renard (Morocco).
“I believe that there is no finer accomplishment for a brand than to rally its friends and ambassadors around a project that conveys positive and inspiring values,” said Hublot CEO Ricardo Guadalupe in a press statement. “The power of the portraits, the intensity of the words, and the charisma of the personalities all combine to make this a truly fine campaign.”
Many of the renowned sportsmen had never met each other before – an intriguing detail that speaks to Hublot’s “Art of Fusion” mantra. They posed for their portraits, marked with their inspirational quotes.
To become a champion, you must never give up or stop practicing,” Diego Maradona’s portrait reads. “The most important thing: respect your parents, as they are your best advisors.”
Pelé, who ascended to prominence as the youngest player to ever win a FIFA World Cup and subsequently became the only triple champion with the Brazilian team, shared a similar sliver of advice: “To become a champion, respect others and never think that you’re the best.”
Back in 2014, when Brazil hosted the World Cup, Hublot ran a similar effort to pick the minds of the world’s greatest athletes and share their hard-fought wisdom with the world.
