How The Rolex Hulk Submariner Muscled Its Way To The Top
Released in 2010, the Rolex Submariner Reference 116610LV immediately became a must-have for watch collectors and fashionistas alike. While Rolex aficionados now admit being a little caught off guard when the design was first presented, the watch slowly showed up on their wrists as years went by.
The Rolex Submariner was always a favorite, but this green version has since taken a life of its own. Nicknamed the “Hulk” – years before the HYT H1 – it is beloved for its unorthodox color, and unique strength. Obviously, the main characteristic of the watch is the color of its bezel and dial, but another important feature is the Cerachrom bezel (unidirectional rotatable, 60-minute graduated).
As Rolex says, the Submariner Date’s Oyster case is symbol of waterproofness and robustness. The ref. 116610LV is waterproof up to 300m (1000 feet) and the 40 mm diameter case is made of the very resistant 904L steel. The Rolex Submariner Date “Hulk” features a winding crown fitted with the patented Triplock triple waterproof system, a crown guard, and comes equipped with caliber 3135, an in-house movement boasting a power reserve of 48 hours.
Despite it’s aggressive colors, the Rolex Submariner Date “Hulk” is perfect for every occasion. A sports watch, first and foremost, it remains surprisingly elegant with summer suit. As competitive collectors take their wrist game to instagram, matching their luxury watch with colorful outfits, the “Hulk” becomes much more than a simple Rolex. It’s now a fashion statement.
The Rolex Submariner Date “Hulk” pairs with a 904L stainless steel bracelet equipped with an Oysterlock safety clasp that avoids accidental openings.
