Michel Parmigiani reportedly fell in love with the Bugatti Veyron during a visit of the Molsheim-based car manufacturer in 2001. Inspired by the iconic design of the Veyron, he approached Bugatti, and the two unveiled the “Bugatti type 370” wristwatch three years later, with a movement worn like an engine block on the wrist. Following several avant-garde models, such as the Bugatti Super Sport, Parmigiani Fleurier has chosen to unveil a more nostalgic design to celebrate the anniversary of its ten year partnership with Bugatti:

The watch is built in the same spirit as the “Bugatti 370” and returns to the calibre 370, a horizontal movement with 10 days of power reserve that made the first Bugatti such a pioneering timepiece.

However, the aesthetic of the Bugatti Mythe is based on another Bugatti emblem, the Type 57 grille that appeared on the very first Bugatti cars. This iconic grille, formed of lines rather than a traditional mesh, is echoed in the watch dial.

According to Parmigiani, the dual-colour effect of the new case pays homage to the industrial and the artisanal traditions that the watch and automotive industry share. The mottled anthracite grey surface reinforces its «industrial» appearance, while the burnished, gold surfaces reflect the refined, artisanal side.

The Parmigiani Bugatti Mythe is a unique piece, exclusive to the North-American market, and is priced at $430,000.
