The complexity of a watch can go beyond its movement and complications. The way it is created, and decorated can also add to this. As the inventor of the tourbillon, is this complication still the calling card of Breguet. They show their passion for this through a variety of different models, among them the Classique Tourbillon Extra-Plat Squelette 5395. While, in essence, a classic, time-only version, Breguet has applied innovation on nearly every level, maintaining their heritage and rich DNA, but at the same time create a watch fit for the future.

With a diameter of 41mm is this watch generously sized for such a classic timepiece. It is one way in which it communicates its progressive spirit. Apart from a thin bezel is all that space occupied by the movement itself. This leaves an abundant amount of space to show the refined skeletonization of the caliber. Breguet took away as much of the movement as possible, giving a unique insight into its inner workings, but refused to let its functionality suffer. Along the edge, a chapter ring of transparent sapphire is placed, pad-printed with Roman numerals and minute markers. This way, the view on the movement is as little obstructed as possible, in which the elegant thin, blued Breguet hands also play an essential role.

While this watch has the appearance of a manual wind movement, it is, in fact, automatic.  By fitting it with a peripheral oscillating weight made from platinum, Breguet also ensures in that way that the refined look of the skeletonized movement is maintained from both the front and the back. As the inventor of the tourbillon, Breguet is also the brand that continues to refine it further. Both the the balance wheel and the horns on the escapement of the Classique Tourbillon Extra-Plat Squelette 5395, tare made from silicon. This ensures higher precision and less maintenance, while magnetism also has less influence on the accuracy of this watch. With a height of 7.7mm, Breguet displays their expertise in making the movement, and therefore the watch itself, as thin as possible. It turns the Classique Tourbillon Extra-Plat Squelette 5395 into an exquisite piece of Haute Horlogerie and one of the most desirable tourbillons currently available.
