Great Skeletons To Add To Your Closet!

It has become an Haute Time tradition: to pay attention around Halloween to an exceptional category of watches: the skeletons. They are a true balancing act, as the watchmakers want to take away as much of the material as possible, yet at the same time must not disturb the integrity of the overall movement. If they succeed, a unique watch is the result. One that allows you to admire their most inner parts, which are often only be seen by the watchmakers themselves. Not very scary, but remarkable for sure!

Hublot Big Bang Tourbillon Power Reserve 5 Days SapphireHublot Big Bang Tourbillon Power Reserve 5 Days Sapphire
With the Big Bang Tourbillon Power Reserve 5 Days Sapphire did Hublot created a completely new way of constructing a skeletonized timepiece. Not only is the case made out of sapphire crystal, but Hublot also applied this material in the movement. This gives you an unprecedented inside into its manufacture movement. Given this unique accomplishment, we believe that this warrants a different name, as the movement is more ghost then skeleton!

Jaquet Droz Ceramic SkeletonJaquet Droz Grande Seconde Skelet-One Ceramic
It was one of the pleasant surprises at this years Baselworld; the  Grande Seconde Skelet-One Ceramic offers a modern interpretation of the DNA of Jaquet Droz. It is perfectly proportioned thanks to its 41.5mm black ceramic case which is complemented by a very modern way of skeletonizing the movement. The gold oscillating weight offers a nice color contrast, while its motion makes this watch even more enticing!

Girard-Perregaux Laureato Flying Tourbillon SkeletonGirard-Perregaux Laureato Flying Tourbillon Skeleton
Girard-Perregaux also applied a modern way of skeletonizing a movement for its latest addition to the Laureato collection. Thanks to clever design they have not only given much more depth to the watch but also highlighted the flying tourbillon. With its case and bracelet crafted from white gold is this watch also a heavyweight, yet with a remarkable sportive appearance.

Jacob & Co Astronomia SpiderJacob & Co Astronomia Spider
The Astronomia Spider might be the only truly scary watch among the ones featured in this article, at least for people who are arachnophobic. A not so miniature spider dominates the sapphire case of the watch. Rest assured, this specimen is made by hand with astonishing detail….or at least so have we been told because it really looks lifelike. It also distracts you from the fact that this watch has a lot of complications but doesn’t seem to have a movement, and that is perhaps even cooler then skeletonizing one!
