The times we are currently facing are challenging for many of us, and for a variety of different reasons. Yet no matter what the reason is, it is essential to maintain hope. Only then can we find the strength to come together, be creative, and work our way productively through the problems. Watches can now be seen as a trivial thing, but apart from being an industry by itself which fuels our economies, can they also serve as an inspiration. When we are capable of making mechanical watches that can measure time with an accuracy of 99.994% (the worst rating with which a watch can still be Chronometer-certified), it serves as a testimony that human ingenuity knows no bounds and that we can persevere. Therefor four mechanical timepieces that can not only inspire but also brighten our day with their colorful appearance.

Rolex Daytona Rainbow

Rolex Daytona Rainbow
Rainbow watches have gotten quite some traction in recent years. Many brands have created exceptional timepieces with a rainbow setting, and among them is Rolex, with their Daytona Rainbow. While they made it previously in yellow and white gold, it is the rich tone of Rolex proprietary Everose gold that makes a difference. It goes particularly well with the trapeze-cut sapphires in all the colors of the rainbow that make up the bezel and match the baguette-cut hour markers. Combined with the brilliant-cut diamonds on the lugs, it results in a watch that is much like a cup of good hot chocolate; sweet, rich, and fulfilling.

Watch of the Week- Hublot Spirit Of Big Bang Yellow Sapphire

Hublot Spirit Of Big Bang Yellow Sapphire
Yellow is a color that is particularly difficult to make in sapphire. To get just the right, even tone, requires tremendous skill, as does turning this challenging material in a complex case such as the Spirit of Big Bang. Hublot achieved in both, and it resulted in a watch that looks like you are wearing a ray of sunlight. The yellow is very vibrant, and just the right amount of yellow details on the dial, along with the yellow-colored strap, only amplifies this. The watch is powered by caliber HUB4700, which can be, thanks to the sapphire case, be admired not only from the front but also from the back and even the sides, adding to the considerable fun-factor of this watch.

Richard Mille RM 67-02

Richard Mille RM 67-02
Richard Mille‘s RM 67-02 is not only a very colorful creation but also a light one. It weighs thanks to the use of TPT composite materials and grade 5 titanium, a mere 32 grams. This is including the elastic wristband, which is the lightest strap the brand has ever made. Mille even used Carbon TPT to craft the rotor from, with an insert made from white gold to maintain winding efficiency. This particular version of the RM 67-02 is made for record-holding high jumper Mutaz Essa Barshim, and the colors are a reference to the flag of his homeland, Qatar.

Zenith Elite Moonphase Romeo y Julieta
Zenith is continuing its collaboration with the Habanos’ company, now highlighting the 145th anniversary of the well-known cigar brand Romeo y Julieta with two exceptional editions of their Elite Moonphase. The 40.5mm blue version is made for the Romeos among us, while the beautiful 36mm version in red with diamond-set bezel is for the Julietas. Both have a gradient effect on the dial with a deep solar-pattern. They are powered by Elite 692, an automatic manufacture movement with a power reserve of 48 hours. With these creations does Zenith shows a slightly more colorful side of the Elite Moonphase, which was launched only a few months earlier at the LVMH Watch Week.
