Top collectors and Dubai Watch Club members enjoyed a special treat from Officine Panerai last week, when the haute watchmaker brought the “Panerai: Dive Into Time” roadshow into the region, presenting for the first time in the Middle East the brand’s latest novelties first revealed in Florence, Italy in May.

Panerai Managing Director of Middle East and India Milvin George (pictured above right) and the Panerai team welcomed guests for an exclusive presentation at the Four Seasons Hotel – DIFC in Dubai.

The “Panerai: Dive Into Time” exhibition includes the new in-house automatic calibre P.9010 redesigned for lighter, thinner watches, and the new Luminor Marina 1950 3 Days Automatic Acciaio 42 mm collection equipped with the new movement. These have already been covered in detail by Haute Time, and were naturally part of the Dubai presentation, where enthusiasts eagerly tried on and compared models PAM01523, PAM01392, PAM01499, PAM01312 and PAM01359.

Guests also had the opportunity to admire the new Luminor Due collection.  Inspired by the lines of the Luminor of the 1950s, with a reduction in the thickness of the case of up to 40% for some models compared to the iconic Luminor 1950, this is Officine Panerai’s 5th case, following those of Radiomir, Radiomir 1940, Luminor and Luminor 1950.

Connoisseurs tried on Models PAM00674, PAM00675, PAM00676, and PAM00677 for size, comparing the10.5 mm thickness of the cases in steel or red gold to the classic Luminor 1950 models and the new Luminor 1950 3 Days Acciaio – 47mm (PAM00673).

The cherry on the cake of this exhibition is the most complicated watch ever made by the Panerai manufacture, the Radiomir 1940 Minute Repeater Carillon Tourbillon GMT – 49mm (PAM00600), (see our report on May 3) with its new twin repeater mechanism of hours, ten-minute intervals and minutes that can chime both the local time and that of a second time zone at the touch of a push-piece at 8 o’clock.

Double cherry for the collectors:  Christophe Sautaux, the maker of this watch, was specially flown in from Switzerland to present his creation to them.

All the new timepieces presented are now available at the Panerai boutique in Dubai Mall, with the exception of this amazing Minute Repeater.  It needs to be pre-ordered, giving you the opportunity to choose your own personalized case material, hands, and strap.
