Beauty In Motion: Breguet’s Terrific New Tourbillons

We’re caught up in Breguet’s whirlwind! This year at Baselworld, the historic manufacture unveiled seven novelties. Chief among our favorites from the brand’s new creations were the Classique Tourbillon Extra-Plat Automatique 5377, the Classique Tourbillon Quantième Perpétuel 3797 and the Classique Tourbillon Quantième Perpétuel 3795.

The highlight of these three timepieces is undoubtedly their tourbillons, which is only fitting, considering that the manufacture’s founder Abraham-Louis Breguet invented the whirlwind (French for tourbillon) in 1795.

Here’s a close up look at these three terrific tourbillons:

Housed in a 42mm platinum case, the Classique Tourbillon Extra-Plat Automatique 5377 features an extra-thin self-winding movement with tourbillon. The 18K gold dial features four silvered and engine-turned patterns.

The dial also features an off-centre dial with Breguet-blue steel hour and minute hands, small seconds on the tourbillon axis between 4 and 6 o’clock, and a 90-hour power reserve indicator between 8 and 10 o’clock.

Next up we have the Classique Tourbillon Quantième Perpétuel 3797. This 41mm platinum perpetual calendar timepiece features an open-worked 3D dial with a skeletonized tourbillon. The 18K gold dial features four silvered and engine-turned patterns.


The dial also features hours and minutes on a sapphire disc, small seconds on the tourbillon axis, the date at 12 o’clock, months and leap years at 3 o’clock, and days at 9 o’clock.

And last but certainly not least, we have the Classique Tourbillon Quantième Perpétuel 3795, which is a skeletonized version of the 3797.

Although it features the same 41mm platinum case, the dial disappears on the 3795, revealing the beauty of the movement.
