Audemars Piguet scored a hole-in-one with its choice of Rory McIlroy as brand ambassador. The Northern Irish golf phenom soared to victory to win his second major at the PGA championship in Kiawah Island, South Carolina, coming in at 13 under par.

Immediately after winning McIlroy sported his Royal Oak Offshore Chronograph as he posed for photographers with his trophy. From there he got on a plane to Cincinnati to support his professional tennis player girlfriend, Caroline Wozniacki. Wozniacki was competing at the Western and Southern Slope Open, where McIlroy was introduced to another number-one-in-the-world athlete, Roger Federer. Much like McIlroy, Federer was photographed dutifully wearing the watch of his sponsor, Rolex, after his win at the All-England club in Wimbledon.

McIlroy’s Royal Oak Offshore Chronograph measures 42 mm wide and 13.9 mm thick. The dial is cast in  Audemars Piguet’s Méga Tapisserie pattern and measures hours, minutes, center seconds and the date with luminescent hands. The hour markers are accented in white gold within the stainless steel case, which is affixed to a black rubber bracelet held together by a Titanium pin buckle. The Offshore Chronograph is safe to a depth of 300 m.

McIlroy has represented Audemars Piguet since July 2009 and was joined in the top ten of the championship by fellow AP ambassadors Lee Westwood, who finished fourth and Graeme McDowell, who finished ninth.
