The vast majority of the brands exhibiting at Baselworld introduced watches that are very pure in their DNA, while at the same time in tune with what the market currently desires, like these four watches:

Rolex GMT-Master II
The famous “Pepsi” GMT-Master, with a black dial and blue and red bezel, is back in steel! Looking very sophisticated on its Jubilee bracelet, the GMT-Master II has, of course, a Cerachrom insert with red and blue ceramic. Changing an icon is always a tricky business, but George Bamford does it with flair as the new TAG Heuer Monaco Bamford shows. Crafted from carbon, it is a very modern watch, especially with the indexes, and subdials, in signature Bamford Blue. The shape of the case, as well as the crown on the left side, with the chronograph pushers on the right, make it unmistakably a Monaco, only this time not a homage to the past, but one to the future.

TAG Heuer is not the only one using carbon this year, as Bulgari is also using it, for their Octo Finissimo Minute Repeater Carbon nonetheless! Not only the case of this ultra-thin minute repeater is crafted from this material, but also the dial, and even the bracelet. The result is a featherlight watch, yet a heavy weight horological piece of art. The minute repeater sounds actually even better in the new carbon case, which is quite an achievement, as it already sounded amazing in the titanium version that was introduced in 2016.
