A Look at World-Famous Cricketer Sachin Tendulkar’s Favorite Audemars Piguet Timepiece

Cricket batsman Sachin Tendulkar is one of the most famous ambassadors for luxury watchmakers Audemars Piguet. A hugely popular figure in the world of cricket, the Indian-born player also happens to be a record breaking champion. Racking up countless wins since he joined the Indian national team at just 15, Tendulkar earned the nickname “Master Blaster” after becoming the first batsman in the history of cricket to have scored 100 international centuries, a double hundred in ODI cricket and the most number of runs in both forms of the game. On top of all that, Tendulkar also took home the World Cup in 2011.

Today, we’re looking at one of Sachin’s favorite timepieces, the Royal Oak GMT Tourbillon Concept. A 44.00mm-diameter Titanium case houses a dial with a second time-zone indicator at the 3 o’clock, crown position indicator at the 6 o’clock and tourbillon at the 9 o’clock with black anodized aluminium bridge. White gold Royal Oak hands with black anodized aluminium flange are housed under a glare-proof sapphire crystal case. This 291 piece watch has a Breguet type balance-spring, with a Tourbillon function of 237 h power reserve.

The cricket player has a strong relationship with Audemars Piguet, paying a visit to the company’s Manufacture des Forges in Le Brassus, Switzerland, last summer. Tendulkar got a special look at the Specialities and Grand Complications areas, where he even had the chance to put his cricketer’s coordination to test assembling a 3090 Audemars Piguet calibre watch (he succeeded, of course).

During his visit, Tendulkar said, “I was very happy to visit the Audemars Piguet Manufacture again as well as the magnificent Vallée de Joux. I always enjoy spending time in the workshops listening to the watchmakers talk about how they make the different parts of the watch I am wearing. They are all incredibly passionate about their profession and that is what I can associate with.”
