Four Watches For International Women’s Day, And None With Diamonds

Four Watches For International Women’s Day, And None With Diamonds

By Martin Green March 8, 2021

Today we celebrate International Women’s Day, in which we not only honor women’s achievements but also raise awareness for women’s equality. The theme set for this year is ‘Choose To Challenge,’ as a challenged world is an alert world, and what you challenge will change. This change is also direly needed, as the world is currently facing challenges for which we can only find constructive, long-term solutions if everybody’s full potential is utilized, and that can only be reached as equals. Here are four watches that might, each in their own way, facilitate this change.

Hublot-Big-Bang-Millennial-Pink

Hublot Big Bang Millennial Pink
Together with Lapo Elkann, Fiat-heir and founder of Garage Italia, Hublot developed the Big Bang Millennial Pink. This chronograph, with its anodized and satin-finished millennial pink aluminum case, is created and marketed particularly as to be gender-neutral. With this, Hublot is once again leading the industry by clearly indicating that all are equal. By making the case of this Big Bang from aluminum, Hublot kept the weight pleasantly low. Inside ticks the brand’s renowned UNICO movement, with its automatic winding and flyback chronograph complication, facilitating life in the fast lane for both men and women alike.

Rolex Oyster Perpetual Day Date in Everose Gold

Rolex Day-Date
The Rolex Day-Date has been on the wrist of prominent world leaders, earning it its nickname ‘President.’ While for decades, a watch worn almost exclusively by men is it also the perfect watch for women. The Day-Date is available in both the classic 36mm size and the more contemporary 40mm. For women, both are an option, as many actually prefer a larger watch around their wrist. One of the things that made it that the Rolex Day-Date makes such a powerful impression is that its case and bracelet have always been exclusively crafted from precious metals. This also makes it the perfect choice for women who lead.

1998_-_X33Omega Speedmaster X-33
If there is one watch that is all about celebrating the achievement of women, it is the Omega Speedmaster Professional. Without the contribution of the fairer sex, humans would have never been able to start the conquest of space, let alone set foot on the moon. As going into space is, fortunately, not a male-exclusive endeavor anymore, many female astronauts have been taking off with Omega’s around their wrist. The X-33 seems to be particularly popular as several astronauts, including Karen Nyberg and Sunita Williams, have been spotted wearing one. And as we celebrate women’s achievements today, Williams even completed the Boston Marathon on a treadmill in space because she didn’t want to miss it, making her the first human to ever do so.

TAG Heuer Porsche

TAG Heuer Carrera Porsche Chronograph Special Edition
Car racing remains a male-dominated sport, but perhaps not for long. Women are climbing up the ranks, like Esmee Hawkey, who started racing Porsches in the Cayman GT4 championship. In her first season, she finished second, missing out on first place by only a single point. Now she competes in the Porsche Carrera Cup. She is not the only woman pushing Porsches to their limits. Simona De Silvestro is a factory driver for the iconic German sports car manufacturer. Her focus is the TAG Heuer Porsche Formula E Team, where she started as test and development driver, and is now a reserve driver. These women show that boundaries are meant to be broken, preferably at high-speed, and what better watch to do that with than the Carrera Porsche Chronograph Special Edition?
