Haute Time’s Favorite Baselworld Watches: Part II

Continuing where we left off in Part I, these are the last of our ten favorite watches from this year’s Baselworld watch fair!

Rolex Cellini Moonphase
Rolex brought back the moon phase! Now part of the Cellini collection it is a timeless and classic watch. Rolex opted for a pointer date, and not have the typical day/date windows as previous Rolex with a moon phase complication featured. The result is visually very pleasing, also because the moon phase is shown by means of a blue enameled disc set with real meteorite which represents the moon.

Breguet Marine Équation Marchante 5887
If there is one brand that keeps outdoing itself, it is Breguet. With the Marine Équation Marchante 5887, they created a watch that combines a perpetual calendar, tourbillon and running equation of time. The design is contemporary yet filled with references to the history of Breguet, and given the number of complications, pleasantly easy to read. The movement has a power reserve of 80 hours and features an escapement wheel and spiral in silicon.

Blancpain Tribute to Fifty Fathoms MIL-SPEC
Over the course of its existence, the Fifty Fathoms was released in many different varieties. One of them was the MIL-SPEC. Blancpain now introduces the Tribute to Fifty Fathoms MIL-SPEC. Unique about this watch is that it features a unique water tightness indicator, which changes color when moisture enters the case.

Hermès Slim d’Hermès L’heure impatiente
Anticipation is often part of the fun when you are looking forward to an event. The L’heure impatiente by Hermès gives you the ability to countdown the last twelve hours to this moment. The last sixty minutes are counted down by a retrograde hand, and when the anticipated moment finally arrives, a mechanical gong will discretely chime!

Zenith Defy El Primero 21
This year Zenith made the El Primero even faster! The brand’s new Defy El Primero 21 can measure up to 100th of a second, yet is still fitted with a mechanical movement! The Chronometer-certified movement achieves this by separating the timekeeping and chronograph functions within the movement, giving each its own gear train and escapement system. The result is a chronograph that can measure elapsed time with unprecedented precision.
