Last week luxury watchmaker IWC Schaffhausen hosted a VIP boy’s lunch at CarFest South. On Friday, August 23, the Swiss manufacture welcomed Friends of the Brand and VIP guests at the festival in London, where IWC was the exclusive watch supporter of the CarFest Drivers Lounge.

The annual festival of cars, music and food took place at Laverstoke Park Farm in Hampshire, the home of former Formula 1 world champion Jody Scheckter.

The VIP lunch was held in the IWC Lounge, a prime spot overlooking the festival’s various activities, including the infamous Hill Climb and main stage entertainment. The lunch was attended by IWC ambassadors Boris Becker, Roberto Di Matteo and Nick Fry.

The lounge was the perfect confluence of haute horlogerie and luxury automobiles. One of the legendary Mercedes-Benz Silver Arrow W196 R racing cars from 1954/55 was displayed at the entrance, while IWC’s new Ingenieur Chronograph collection (which was inspired by the Silver Arrow) stood alongside. There was also an IWC watchmaker on hand, who gave guests an exclusive behind-the-scenes glimpse into the art of watchmaking.

After lunch, guests took in the Hill Climb, which tests some of the best cars in the world, both classic and new. This was followed by a private tour of the Paddock, where car enthusiasts were treated to an up close and personal view of their motoring idols, as well as the chance to meet the drivers. The evening was capped off with a performance by the band Texas.
