At Basel World, Haute Time had the honor of sitting down with Sascha Moeri, the CEO of Carl F. Bucherer.

Carl F. Bucherer is a family owned business that was started in 1888 by Mr. Carl F. Bucherer. In 1919 he started doing more art deco timepieces and even ladies timepieces. Still today, the company is 100% owned by the Bucherer family. Sascha Moeri said that this sets the brand apart because everyone is so emotionally bound to the heritage and tradition.

“I lead the company with a lot of care and long term thinking,” he said.

Sascha Moeri said he considered Basel World 2012 to be the best fair ever. The year is starting off strong for for the company with the Asia market booming and The United States on the rise.

While trends come and go in watches, Sascha Moeri knows that the brand stays classic and true to its heritage.

“I think it’s important for every brand to keep their own DNA and we are in a very lucky position. On one hand we have our own in-house movement, the Caliber A 1000,” he said. “Besides our technical innovation, we have a whole history of working with jewelry and diamonds.”

One of the strongest pieces of the Carl F. Bucherer brand is the “Patravi” which range from 42mm-47mm. It’s large but still works beautifully with a three-piece suit. The watch has multiple time zones, it’s own GMT Chronograph. It’s a very unique timepiece, in fact when Arnold Schwarzenegger visited the Carl F. Bucherer at Basel World, he bought it right then and there.
