Oris Honors Six Decades Of Diving Excellence With The Divers Sixty-Five 60th Anniversary Edition

This week, the Oris team has taken its talents to Vail to set the stage for its latest novelty: the Divers Sixty-Five 60th Anniversary Edition. In the golden year of 1965, Oris, the venerable Swiss watchmaker from Hölstein, introduced a timepiece that would forever change the landscape of dive watches. The original Divers Sixty-Five was more than just a functional tool for underwater exploration; it was a cultural artifact of its time, embodying the spirit of adventure and the burgeoning love for scuba diving among the elite and the explorers. With its distinctive stainless steel case, bi-directional bezel, and a dial that balanced playfulness with practicality, it was a watch designed for the brave and the bold.

Fast forward to 2025, and Oris commemorates this significant milestone with the launch of the Divers Sixty-Five 60th Anniversary Edition. This tribute watch encapsulates the essence of its predecessor while integrating modern watchmaking sophistication. Encased in a robust 40.00 mm stainless steel shell, this watch maintains the iconic bi-directional rotating bezel, bringing nostalgia to the forefront. It is driven by a Swiss-made automatic mechanical movement, a testament to Oris’s commitment to quality and precision.

The allure of the 60th Anniversary Edition lies in its dial—a black canvas adorned with vintage detailing that speaks directly to the heart of watch enthusiasts. The dial revives elements like the anti-shock label, shorter indices, and the prominent luminescent numerals at the cardinal points, all reminiscent of the 1965 original. But perhaps the most evocative feature is the return of the retro Oris logo with “waterproof” inscribed beneath, a design element not seen in Oris’s modern collections until now.

This anniversary model does not merely rest on nostalgia. It comes with a stainless steel bracelet, enhancing its everyday wearability, and includes an additional leather strap for those who appreciate the classic touch. The back of the case is engraved with special markings celebrating the 60th anniversary, making each piece a collector’s item.

Oris has paid homage to the past while ensuring the watch meets contemporary standards. The sapphire crystal, domed on both sides with an anti-reflective coating, allows for optimal legibility and durability. With water resistance up to 10 bar (100 meters), it stays true to its diving heritage yet is suited for modern adventures. The internal mechanics of the Oris 733 movement are a marvel of engineering, offering 38 hours of power reserve and vibrating at 4 Hz, ensuring accuracy and reliability.
