When it comes to their designs, Longines has often been able to give them a sense of timelessness. They always seem to be current, regardless of when they were created. One of their latest additions to the collection, the Spirit Titanium, also possesses this. While brand new, it also has a sense of elegance that reminds us of times long gone, making it appropriate in either. In that matter, it is also tough to designate the true nature of this watch, as it is rugged as a sports watch yet simultaneously possesses an undeniable sense of elegance.

The sportiveness of this Spirit comes to life through its titanium case, which Longines gave a brushed finish, but uses polishing to highlight its profile. The brand made the new watch available in a 40mm and 42mm diameter, which is both a generous size, yet wearability won’t suffer due to the lightness of the case material. It is offered on both a titanium bracelet, as well as a nylon strap. To stay faithful to the concept of a tool-watch is the titanium caseback closed and secured with six screws. This also plays its part in making this watch water resistant up to 100 meters.

Inside the case, we find Caliber L888.4, which is a more than ample performer. It boasts a generous power reserve of 72-hours and comes with a Chronometer certification and quite recent innovations as a silicon balance spring. With its black dial and gold details is the dial offering quite a contrast. Longines did forgo a date function, allowing for a very refined design. The applied Arabic numerals give a sense of depth and go very well with the shape of the hands. Special mention is there for the seconds hand, which has a red tip, pulling it back into that tool watch atmosphere. Further refinement can be found in the chapter ring, indicating the minutes/seconds. It is placed slightly elevated, with cutouts for the diamond-shaped hour markers. Its chamfered side in a gold-tone creates a halo effect that brings the design even more together, making the Spirit Titanium one of the best-looking sports watches, or most sportive elegant watches, out there.
