24 Hours Of Le Mans Under Way With TAG Heuer
Le Mans is one of auto racing’s most prestigious events. The grueling 24 hour car race has reached a near-mythical status in the eyes of petrol heads across the globe. For the 2015 running of Le Mans, TAG Heuer is partnering up with Nissan and their new vehicle, the Nissan GT-R LM NISMO.
The 2016 Le Mans sees the Japanese car manufacturer returning to the race after a 16 year absence. Their new car, a Nissan GT-R LM NISMO, is a marvel of engineering and boasts more than 1,000 horsepower, along with a hybrid front wheel drive and a V6 3-litre twin turbo engine.
Jean-Claude Biver, CEO of TAG Heuer and Chairman of the Watch Division of LVMH group, explains: “We want innovation, audacity, and courage to return to the Le Mans course. Nissan NISMO is the perfect challenger, a pioneer when it comes to the technology in their cars, and also particularly in the way they communicate with young people using their massive social media presence. Just take a look at this car, it’s powerful, different, and breaks the mould. It’s the perfect embodiment of our #DontCrackUnderPressure campaign.”
“We’re very proud to have been chosen by TAG Heuer,” adds Darren Cox, NISMO’s Global Head of Brand, Marketing & Sales. “The brand is synonymous with avant-garde and the success of Le Mans, and we want to do everything we can to continue this tradition. It’s great to have them on board.”
In celebration of Nissan’s return to Le Mans, TAG Heuer is also releasing a special edition timepiece. The TAG Heuer Carrera “NISMO” Calibre 16 Day-Date Chronograph Special Edition boasts a dial with black, red and charcoal bands and a case crafted from titanium carbide. It also features a scratch-proof ceramic bezel, a domed sapphire crystal with antireflective coating, and a caseback decorated with a Nissan NISMO decal.
