Ulysse Nardin Is Expanding Marine Torpilleur Collection With Seven New Models
Marking 175 years of history can be a daunting task, yet not for Ulysse Nardin. Founded in 1846, their legacy in Haute Horlogerie has been firmly based on pursuing precision timekeeping. The brand became one of the best-known suppliers of marine chronometers, delivering them to navies and ship lines worldwide and contributing to science by supplying them to geodesic institutes and astronomical observatories. Ulysse Nardin is introducing seven(!) exciting new watches to their Marine Torpilleur collection to mark this moment.

Grand Seiko Introduces Two Stunning New Spring Drive Models
To commemorate the company's founding 140 years ago, Grand Seiko is adding another two models to its anniversary collection. Both are powered by Caliber 9RA2, the innovative Spring Drive movement that Grand Seiko developed for the occasion. It takes this unique technology to new heights with a slimmer design, thanks to a redesign and repositioning of many parts. Thanks to two mainspring barrels, the caliber has a power reserve of an impressive 120 hours, which it indicates on the back of the watch. The IC has also been updated and comes with a built-in temperature sensor. This allows for an accuracy of around 10 seconds per month.
Hublot Takes The Rainbow Setting To The Next Level With New Big Bang Integral Tourbillon
In 2017 Hublot was one of the pioneers when it comes to the rainbow-setting. In the last couple of years, they have displayed the power of this concept in a wide variety of different watches. Today they introduce a new high in this field with the Big Bang Integral Tourbillon. Because of the integrated bracelet, the brand now has even more metal to utilize the full-color spectrum of the rainbow. They do so in the most precious way, using baguette-cut stones. As a result, 484 stones, weighing almost 36 carats, decorate these watches.

Unconventional Tourbillons That Set The Pace For The Future
A tourbillon is often considered one of the most traditional complications. One thing that comes into play with this is its respectable age as it was developed by Abraham-Louis Breguet in 1785 and patented in 1801. However, it took until the revival of watchmaking after the quartz crisis to be used extensively in wristwatches. Now there hardly isn't a brand that doesn't have one in its collection. Standing out can then be a challenge, but at the same time, it also offers the opportunity to innovate and pave the way for the future of this highly regarded complication.
Four Sensational Summer Watches For Women
In summer, our preference for watches often changes. Warmer weather lets us forgo leather straps in favor of metal bracelets or rubber ones. As we are enjoying time off, the watches don't have to be business-appropriate anymore. Instead, we get to enjoy fun and outgoing creations, like the following four sensational watches that are perfect for enjoying this summer season:
Haute Complication: Ulysse Nardin Blast Hourstriker
Ulysse Nardin is a brand with many traditions, and among them is the creation of watches that produce sound. One of the first complications that come to mind with this is the classic minute repeater. Ulysse Nardin incorporated them in legendary watches like the "Genghis Khan" and "Safari." But, another tradition with the Ulysse Nardin, even more paramount than all the others, is to innovate. In 2019 they teamed up with the high-end French audio brand Devialet, best known for their beautiful and outstanding speakers, to create a minute repeater with a unique sound experience. The sound of most minute repeaters is actually rather faint, but with the help of Devialet, Ulysse Nardin pumped up the jam of the Hourstriker Phantom to a very impressive 85dB. This collaboration was continued this year with the Blast Hourstriker.
Watch of the Week: Patek Philippe Golden Ellipse 5738/51G
Based upon the so-called "Golden Ratio" made the Patek Philippe Golden Ellipse quite stir at the watch fair in Basel, Switzerland, when it was introduced there in 1968. Ancient Greek mathematicians already concluded that applying the ratio of 1 / 1.6181 resulted in great beauty, whether it was in architecture or art. The Golden Ellipse proved that this was also true in watches. Ever since its introduction, it has been a staple in the collection of Patek Philippe with a loyal following. Today the watch still looks as elegant and stylish as it did when it was first launched, and one can only conclude that it has a timeless sense of beauty. That doesn't mean that Patek Philippe leaves it as it is, as the watch is also a perfect canvas to create something extraordinary, like the reference 5738/51G.

Four Chronographs That Earned their Place In History
One of the most popular complications is the chronograph. This can be explained because the complication adds extra dynamic elements to the watch. Measuring the passing of time requires an extra seconds hand, subdials to show the minutes and hours, and pushers to operate it all. Aviation, car racing, and the exploration of space are just three areas in which (mechanical) chronographs made their mark, adding to their appeal. While there are a great many to choose from, the following four have earned their place in history:

Watch of the Week: Vacheron Constantin Overseas Perpetual Calendar Ultra-Thin
The Overseas collection from Vacheron Constantin is gaining in popularity. This is not so surprising as it combines the looks of an attractive sports watch with the refinement of a dress watch. How potent this combination is, becomes especially clear with the Overseas Perpetual Calendar Ultra-Thin. Vacheron Constantin opted for a traditional dial layout of this complication, with a subdial for the day, date, and month and a moon phase display on a rotating disc. Combining this with bold hands and hour markers and a chapter ring utilizing a sportive font for the 5-minute indication perfectly balances the piece.
