Back in May, World of Diamonds Group, a diamond mining and conglomerate corporation, unveiled a splendid 2.08-carat Fancy Vivid Blue diamond set in a platinum (with rose-gold plating) ring. The one-of-a-kind stone and ring are named in honor of Hollywood actress and influencer, Jane Seymour, who wore it during a lavish unveiling evening in Singapore. Now, the ring is up for sale.

According to Karan Tilani, director of the World of Diamonds Group, Jane Seymour was selected as the namesake for the unique stone and ring because of her global presence as an actress, and her gracious, down-to-earth appeal. Seymour is not only a Hollywood celebrity and award-winning actress with her own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, but also, in addition to her roles as a Bond girl (Solitaire) in Live and Let Die (1973 opposite Roger Moore), or as the famed Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman, she has received the distinguished honor of Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) in 2000.

The Jane Seymour blue diamond ring, influenced and endorsed by Seymour, is the only jewelry creation in the world named after the celebrity. (The Open Hearts collection of jewelry is designed by her but not named after her.) In addition to being named in honor of the star, the diamond ring has other design tendencies inspired by her. Among them: the floral motif on either side of the blue diamonds, and the fact that the precious platinum has been rose-gold plated. The choice of plating was in part for demand for the hue, but more importantly because it gives the blue diamond a refreshing hue and elegant appeal. Additionally, it best mimes the flower choice, Erodium malacoides (in the geranium family), which are naturally magenta to purple in color.

The rare 2.08 Vivid blue cushion-cut diamond was cut from a larger rough. Gem experts meticulously studied it over the course of more than a year, before being cut by the finest artisans into the perfectly proportioned cushion shape.

A host of lavish events were held to celebrate and show off The Jane Seymour ring in Singapore, and more are planned for summer and fall. Seymour even hand autographed a catalog about The Jane Seymour diamond ring for VIP guests.

According to Tilani, the ring won’t be sold to just anyone. They are looking for the right buyer to appreciate the provenance of the stone and the ring’s namesake. The ring is being sold in a lavish premium leather jewelry chest, signed “W.O.D Genève.”
