Earlier today, we brought you the news about TAG Heuer celebrating 100 years of historic involvement with the Carrera PanAmericana races. You can read about that event here. At that event, the brand unveiled the new limited edition convertible Mikrograph watch – that will be in stores next month. The TAG Heuer Caliber Mikrograph 1/100th of a second Automatic Chronograph celebrates the 100th anniversary of the first Mikrograph – and is an innovative watch in both mechanics and style.

The timepiece is a convertible watch that can be worn as a wristwatch, or used as a pocket watch, desktop watch or dashboard piece. It is sold with a strap, a bracelet, a desk holder and a dashboard holder. Created in a limited edition of 100 pieces, the watch features an oversized fluted crown at 12:00, reminiscent of the first Mikrograph, and features chronograph pushers on either side of the crown.

The new watch features crown at 12:00 and is a removable pocket watch that is sold with a dashboard and tabletop holder.

It features a white dial with printed indexes and black hour and minute hands in honor of the first piece of its kind. The three counters, with blue chronograph counter hands, offer minutes, running seconds and power reserve indicator. There is also a date window at 4:30. The 45mm watch is crafted in polished stainless steel with a scratch-resistant sapphire crystal with antireflective treatment and a sapphire caseback inscribed with the watch number on it. The removable pocket watch is offered on a gray perforated leather calfskin strap and is delivered with a watchcase and the aforementioned dashboard and tabletop holders. The watch is water resistant to 100 meters and retails for $21,000.

The original Mikrograph 1916 was the first stopwatch accurate to 1/100th of a second equipped with an oscillating pinion. The timepiece was sued for the Olympic Games in 1920,1924 and 1928.
