TAG Heuer Debuts New Carrera Heuer-01 43mm Chronograph
Preparing for next month’s Baselworld 2017, Tag Heuer reimagined its signature Carrera Heuer-01 Skeleton Manufacture Chronograph watch.
Launched in 2015, the compact, sports piece tagged under $5,000 – quite a rarity for the world of high-end horology. This year, the chronograph keeps its astounding price and iconic Caliber Heuer-01 but receives a 43mm case, a slight reduction from the original 45mm.
Rendered in brushed steel or matte ceramic, the case houses a skeleton dial – a hallmark for the Heuer-01 line – that reveals the inner workings of the chronograph and the date disc. A tachymeter bezel and push buttons at 2 and 4 o’clock frame the ticking mechanisms. The case back is equally transfixing with the red column wheel, a circular black PVD weight and the bridge in plain sight.
Available in black, cognac brown and navy blue, the 2017 Skeleton Manufacture Chronograph pays tribute not only to the label’s founder Edouard Heuer and his first collection of novel watches. With several vibrant red accents, it also celebrates motor racing. The 30-minute and 12-hour counters, the strap/stop push-button and the seconds handle remind of the high-speed nature of the sport with their fierce hue.
Linked to either a steel or matte black ceramic bracelet, an alligator leather or rubber strap, the new chronograph, water-resistant to 100 meters and with a power reserve of 50 hours, boast unrivaled quality and price.
