Basel World Update: Haute Living’s Exclusive Access And Video Of The Rolex Oyster Perpetual Sky-Dweller
On Saturday I was able to get a first look at Rolex with our watch writer Carol Besler. All I can say is, what an opportunity to look and capture on video the Sky-Dweller. This is one of the most amazing pieces from Basel World and a huge honor that Haute Time was able to get an inside look at the Rolex Oyster Perpetual Sky-Dweller. This piece for Fall of 2012 will be one of the hautest watches to get on the market.
The watch currently has 14 patents, five of which are new, so this is definitely a piece that Rolex created for Basel World 2012. It comes with Dual Time Zone and 24 hour display and the combined display of local time via centre watch hands and reference time via an off-centre disc makes the Sky-Dweller easy to read with a very cool looking face.
The watch has a fixed red triangle that indicates the reference time and the 24-hour display allows the wearer to distinguish daytime and night-time hours. The watch has the saros annual calendar, which is a ingenious patented mechanism inspired by an astronomical phenomenon that is able to differentiate the brand from 30 to 31 day months. Wow, very cool! I hate to always have to fix my watch otherwise. The watches come in white gold, yellow gold (my favorite) and pink gold with a alligator strap.
As Virginie Chevailler was walking into the room, I looked at her watch and I thought it looked so sexy. The new Oyster Perpetual Date just in the amazing pink gold has a very cool dial and diamond case. Set with 60 baguett-cut diamonds and 120 cut diamonds on the edge, this watch is Haute and very cool on a woman, but the price is steep, $72,000 Swiss Francs. I thought this was a great piece launched for Basel World.
The last piece was one of my favorite watches, the Oyster Perpetual Cosmograph Daytona. Made in 18 ct yellow gold, the Daytona has a bezel entirely set with an array of sapphires in rainbow colors. Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Mauves, and Pink. This watch is a beautiful creation and $85,000 Swiss Francs. This is a show stopper and if you are going Daytona, this is the way to go, as this is one of the most beautiful pieces which includes diamonds I have ever seen.
It was a huge honor for Haute Time to be able to get inside Rolex and be introduced to specific watches launched into the market. We also were able to video this, included below, that shows the credibility of Haute Time and the exclusive access we have for our readers.
