Jaeger-LeCoultre Releases A Green Grande Reverso Ultra Thin 1931 For London
To mark the opening of the London flagship boutique, Jaeger-LeCoultre unveiled a limited edition Grande Reverso Ultra Thin 1931, and the world has been turning green with envy for this very limited edition.
With only 26 pieces to be made, the British racing green London Flagship edition is the most limited in the tribute series, which includes the fiery “Rouge,” and the delicious “Chocolat,” models.
The Reverso may well be the most British model in the Jaeger-LeCoultre collection. The brand developed its iconic reversible case in 1931, at the request of British army officers who wanted to protect their watch in order to play polo.
The new limited edition pays homage to its British heritage with remarkably beautiful deep green lacquered dial. Presented in the classic reversible Grande Reverso Ultra Thin steel case, measuring 46.8 mm x 27.4 mm, it features hours and minutes with silver-toned hour-markers.
According to Jaeger-LeCoultre, the deep green color is dear to Janek Deleskiewicz, the brand’s Design and Artistic Director, who spent some time in England in the 1960s and 1970s, and apparently fell in love with the deep green silk lining so characteristic to elegant British tailoring.
The second side of the watch features an exquisite engraving of the Palace of Westminster and Big Ben, drawn by Deleskiewicz himself. The world’s most famous bell has appeared in Jaeger-LeCoultre models before, and its melody was famously used for the chime of the Jaeger-LeCoultre Duomètre a Grande Sonnerie.
“British-mania continues to thrive at Jaeger-LeCoultre,” says Zahra Kassim-Lakha, Director of Marketing & Global Strategy for the brand in the UK. Combining Big Ben and Reverso, “is nothing short of two icons in one,” she adds. The watch houses Calibre 822, an in-house mechanical hand-wound movement boasting a 45-hour power reserve.
The Grande Reverso Ultra Thin 1931 Special London Flagship Edition is available in a short series of 26 pieces, priced at £6,800. Exclusively available at the Jaeger-LeCoultre London Flagship on 13 Old Bond Street, the watch will be delivered starting this summer.
