Hublot may be the master of the “Art Of Fusion,” but even its watchmakers know that mixing carbon and metal is impossible. Still, the luxury watch brand from Switzerland has found a way of combining the two, and proved that if they don’t mix, they can still match.

Hublot used its platform during Baselworld 2015 to launch, for the very first time, an exclusive bi-material bezel presented in the new Big Bang Ferrari Carbon. Based on the pillars of its predecessor, the new Big Bang Ferrari Carbon is presented in a 45mm case, and once again features the iconic prancing horse at 9 o’clock, while the minute counter and date window appear at 3 o’clock in the colors of the Ferrari shield.

On the wrist, it feels similar to previous Big Bang Ferrari models, but it looks very different. Just take a look at it below next to the newly launched Hublot Big Bang Ferrari Speciale for comparison.

Its camo-like bezel is a real showstopper, and Hublot aficionados who have always adored the partnership between the Swiss brand and the Italian auto manufacturer, reacted very positively to the new design.

The bi-material bezel completely transforms the look of the watch. In titanium and carbon it appears like marble, while the King gold and carbon pairing has the warmth of burning coal. It looks cool, but the process of creation is highly-complex, and according to Hublot’s R&D department, it can take up to “six months to incrust a single carbon bezel with gold, or titanium.”

Another, perhaps less evident innovation introduced by the Big Bang Ferrari Carbon is the upgrade made to its engine. For the very first time, the new watch has been fitted with an all black, PVD-coated titanium HUB 1241 Unico movement, developed and manufactured in-house by Hublot.

The Big Bang Ferrari Carbon is available in two limited edition models, in titanium with a black strap (1000-piece limited edition) or in King Gold with a brown strap (500-piece limited edition).
