Swizz Beatz Helps Hublot Kick Off BaselWorld With Seven New Unveilings
Luxury watchmaker Hublot wasted no time in kicking things off in Basel this week. The Swiss town, which is set to host BaselWorld 2013 starting this Thursday, was the backdrop for several new Hublot unveilings. Company chairman Jean-Claude Biver, CEO Ricardo Guadalupe, Monster CEO Noel Lee and producer Swizz Beatz joined forces to present one of the highlights of the manufacture’s unveilings; a partnership with Monster. We have your breakdown of that partnership and all of Hublot’s exciting new reveals:
Monster, the world leader in high-performance personal audio, collaborated with the Swiss watchmaker to combine the best in high fidelity audio with the finest watchmaking craftsmanship and materials to create. The result is Inspiration™ Hublot – a luxury noise cancelling headphone. The lightweight, rock-solid black and carbon fiber Inspiration™ Hublot over-ear headphones will be available this summer at Hublot boutiques and retailers worldwide.
Next up is the Hublot Watch Capsule, an innovative system developed by the manufacture in conjunction with its long-time partner and friend, display case maker Xavier Dietlin.
The “Antikythera SunMoon” watch, featuring highly precise Sun and Moon indicators, celebrates the “Tribute to the Antikythera Mechanism”, one of the most mysterious objects in the history of civilization. On display at the Archaeological Museum of Athens, the Antikythera mechanism is considered the first “astronomical calculator” in the history of humanity, and dates back to the 2nd century BC (sometime between 150 and 100 BC).
The Big Bang Carbon Bezel Baguette 44 mm is a fusion of carbon fibre and precious stones, with diamonds, sapphires, rubies and tsavorites. This piece is a first, and the object of a patent application filed by Hublot. The manufacture used an exclusive process to set 48 baguette-cut precious stones in the carbon fibre body of the watch, using traditional craft techniques developed by the Hublot in-house carbon fibre components production unit. Four of these 44 mm Big Bangs, made from 100% carbon fibre (including the dial and bezel) will be produced, in pink, blue, green, and white.
The Classic Fusion Skeleton Haute Joaillerie is the major Haute Joaillerie piece to be presented by Hublot at BaselWorld 2013. The skeleton tourbillon movement of this watch was developed and produced entirely in the Hublot Manufacture workshops. Fully set with baguette diamonds, including on its openworked dial, this timepiece was designed not only to shine but also to reveal its fine mechanics. With a total of 1185 diamonds sourced from Yakutsk, in Russia’s Eastern Siberia region, this piece is a true stunner.
The Big Bang Unico is the evolution of the iconic design of the Big Bang, a column wheel chronograph movement with a dual horizontal coupling visible on the dial side. The movement was designed, developed and produced entirely within the Hublot manufacture workshops. Presented in Basel in 4 best-selling versions, the Unico marks the start of a new line of Hublot products designed to complete the Big Bang, Classic Fusion, King Power and Masterpieces ranges.
Finally, the Masterpiece MP-05 LaFerrari represents a very special series, entirely designed and developed by the Hublot Manufacture engineers and watchmakers in tribute to “LaFerrari”. Living up to that iconic vehicle, this model achieves an historic record with its 50-day power reserve. It is also the watch with the most watchmaking components created to date by Hublot (637).
