For 2015, H. Moser & Cie. is throwing a large part of its marketing muscle behind its Venturer Collection, and its easy to see why.  Thanks to a number of key innovations, the Venturer Tourbillon Dual Time Sapphire Skeleton is an inspired release from the watchmaker.

An immediately striking feature of H. Moser & Cie’s latest is its case, which was created entirely out of sapphire crystal. The transparency of the case and dial highlights the piece’s sensual curves and grants the wearer an unfettered view of the HMC 803 calibre, which is entirely skeletonised. The calibre features a decoration that took 100 hours to carve by hand, further adding to the uniqueness of the timepiece. The watch’s transparent case also makes the perfect visual showcase for a tourbillon, and allows the traditional watch complication to shine in a whole new way.

But the most noteworthy feature of the Venturer Tourbillon Dual Time Sapphire Skeleton is undoubtedly the strap, as strange as that may be to hear. In a world dominated by complex movements and complications, the strap of a luxury wristwatch can sometimes feel like an afterthought, but H. Moser & Cie have chosen the lowly watchband as their launchpad for innovation. The strap of the timepiece is a one-of-a-kind rubber creation made using a 3D printer, a first for the industry. The 3D imaging and printing technology gives the strap a delicate and nearly organic, lace-like structure that would be too complex to create by hand using traditional strap-making methods or materials. The beauty and sheer oddness of the strap’s rubber design works to compliment the innovative watch it’s attached to.
