Chopard Launches Two L.U.C Travel Watches And A New Manufacture Movement
To celebrate the 20th anniversary of its Manufacture in Fleurier, Chopard is launching not one but two new L.U.C timepieces: the L.U.C GMT One and the L.U.C Time Traveler One, created with the world traveler in mind. The mechanical self-winding caliber L.U.C 01.10-L that powers the L.U.C GMT One is also new, being the first L.U.C movement with a fully integrated GMT function. Like all L.U.C timepieces, these new watches are entirely produced and beautifully finished at the Manufacture, and are chronometer-certified by COSC.
In keeping with the spirit of the L.U.C collection, the L.U.C GMT One is an exceptional timepiece that is easy to use on an everyday basis. The 42 mm in diameter x 11.71 mm thick stainless steel case has a polished bezel and case-back with vertical satin-brushed case middle. It surrounds a black sunburst satin-brushed dial with snailed chapter ring, and hour-markers and Arabic numerals painted with Super-Luminova.
A circular satin-brushed GMT function disc is slate-grey coloured between 6:30 am and 6:30 pm, and black between 6:30 pm and 6:30 am. The railway track minute circle is perfectly visible, along with the date at 6 o’clock and the centrally displayed rhodiumed hours, minutes and seconds hands. The orange baton-type hand for the GMT function with an arrow painted in Super-Luminova points to the GMT display on the outer dial disc. A first crown positioned at 2 o’clock bearing the L.U.C logo serves to adjust the date and local time, with the second crown at 4 o’clock, featuring a modern globe motif, controlling the orange GMT hand that points to the second time zone.
Through the glare-proofed sapphire crystal case-back, we admire the Côtes de Genève adorned bridges of the new L.U.C 01.10-L caliber with a power reserve of 60 hours. Water resistant to 50 meters, the L.U.C GMT One is enhanced with an alligator leather strap and stainless steel pin buckle. Ref: 168579-3001, priced at CHF9,500.
For travelers who like to see the world at a glance, the L.U.C Time Traveler One is the very first Chopard world time watch, designed with easy-to-read concentric layers that display the date, local time and 24 main time zones.
Equipped with the mechanical self-winding caliber L.U.C 01.05-L with a power reserve of approx. 60 hours, the L.U.C Time Traveler One, measuring 42 mm x 12.09, features a case and two crowns construction similar to that of the L.U.C GMT One.
Distinguished by its dial, a discreet central hand indicates the date, while a surrounding railway track circle serves to read the hours and minutes of the local time zone, adjusted by the crown at 2 o’clock. Moving outwards, a large 24-hour graduated ring operates in coordination with the disc that bears the reference cities symbolizing the 24 main time zones. All you have to do is synchronize them with the local time zone using the 4 o’clock crown, and no more adjustment is required. Water resistant to 50 meters.
The L.U.C Time Traveler One comes in three versions:
a stainless steel case with sunburst satin-brushed black dial, Ref: 168574-3001 priced at CHF12,800;
an 18-carat rose gold case with silver-toned dial, Ref: 161942-5001 priced at CHF22,500;
and a platinum case with a grey-blue colour dial, Ref: 161942-9001 priced at CHF35,200.
Each version is complemented by an alligator strap with respectively a stainless steel, rose gold, or white gold pin buckle.
Available starting now and by the end of October 2016 at all Chopard boutiques and L.U.C retailers.
