Blancpain Unveils Its 2014 Ladies Watches in New York City
Yesterday in New York City, Blancpain hosted a special presentation of its 2014 novelties. In a symphony of Swiss elegance, the manufacture presented its new timepieces in concert with a special lunch by Swiss chef Daniel Humm.
While we’ll be bringing you a look at some incredible men’s creations next week, today we’re focusing on Blancpain’s offerings for women, because some were missing from the brand’s BaselWorld presentation.
Unlike many other haute horlogerie brands, Blancpain’s ladies’ watches don’t skimp on the serious: each piece features a self-winding, hand-finished and decorated movement.
Here is an exclusive look at our favorites:
This 36.80mm 18K white gold timepiece features a diamond-clad bezel and crown, and a stunning mother-of-pearl dial. A string of diamonds cuts the dial in half, with hours and minutes on the top half and retrograde small seconds on the bottom half. At its heart is the Calibre 2663SR, a self-winding movement with a silicon balance spring and a 72-hour power reserve. Reference 3650A-3554L-58B.
This ultra-slim timepiece is housed in a 29.20mm 18K red gold case that is just 8.71mm thick. The bezel is set with a row of diamonds, which encircle a freshwater mother-of-pearl dial with unique color gradations. Twelve diamonds serve as hour markers, and there are 18K red gold hour, minute and seconds hands. At its heart is the Calibre 953, a self-winding movement with a 40-hour power reserve. The Ultraplate comes with a set of five interchangeable straps. Reference 6102-2954C-95A.
This version of the Ultraplate (French for ultra-slim) is a tone-on-tone masterpiece. Its 29.20mm case is in steel, and is complemented by the row of diamonds on the bezel and the white mother-of-pearl dial. This piece too comes with the set of interchangeable straps, but our favorite is undoubtedly the white leather strap pictured here, which completes the color palette beautifully.
The newest edition of the Quantième Complet model, this piece features a new bracelet with diamonds on the links. The 35mm steel case also features a diamond-clad bezel and the mother-of-pearl dial features nine diamond hour markers, used in conjunction with Roman numeral hour markers. Functions include hours and minutes, as well as a central calendar date hand, the day and month at 12 o’clock, and the moon phase at 6 o’clock. At its heart is the Calibre 6763, a self-winding movement with a 100-hour power reserve.
We also saw the Quantième Complet in 18K red gold.
