Baselworld 2015: Introducing The New Carl F. Bucherer Patravi ScubaTec Watch (Live Pics, Specs And Pricing Info)
Introduced in 2014, the Patravi ScubaTec has been slightly altered to better suit the functional design of a dive watch, using a glimmering 18k pink gold for the case to act as a sort of match-shift light whilst exploring the depths of the opaque sea. The colour scheme of; blue, black and gold is rather becoming and somewhat aquatically romanticised. The time piece holds some hypnotic traits, such as an enchanting black unidirectional rotating bezel and pink gold numerals. A unidirectional bezel guarantees optimal security even if the bezel is accidentally knocked whilst the wear is preoccupied with a project.
The watch is equipped with a helium valve which automatically depressurises to prevent damage to the case, which is perfect for deep sea exploration. The incorporation of lume in the hour markers, hour and minute hands and shiny pink gold batons enable the time piece to be easily read in murky sea water. The Patravi ScubaTec has a rubber strap which allows it to be flexible and easily adjusted by the wearer over a diving suit. The strap is black with ‘Scubatec’ in blue lettering running down one side of the strap, leading into a 18k pink gold and black titanium diver clasp. The movements are wound automatically by the COSC certified CBF 1950.1 calibre boasting 38 hours of power reserve. More than enough for even the longest diving expeditions.
The case measures 44.6mm in 18k pink gold, with a fish scale pattern skilfully applied to the main dial, the size of the case is quiet permissible when we think about glancing at it, whilst floating underwater at the watch’s maximum depth of 500 meters. There is a small date display window at 3 o’clock, which is clearly visible under the protective coating of sapphire crystal and if one examines the reverse one will find it is engraved with two flying ray mantas.
On the whole, the blue sets of the aquatic theme of the timepiece effectively with a subtle indicator to the watches primary focus; arduous yet rewarding exploration of the uncharted bottomless deep blue.
