Baselworld 2015: Breguet Unveils New Tradition Automatique Seconde Rétrograde 7097 Watch (Live Pics, Specs And Pricing Information)
Much of the tradition in haute horlogerie is about honoring the past, which is why it’s not at all surprising to see Breguet paying tribute to the great Abraham-Louis Breguet, the brand’s 18th century founder.
With the Tradition Automatique Seconde Rétrograde 7097, Breguet revisits its founder’s “souscription” and “tact” watches, which were notable for their mechanisms that revealed the bridges, wheels, escapement, barrel and various other parts that are normally placed beneath the plate, and hidden from view.
The offset dial at 12 o’clock, another characteristic of Abraham-Louis Breguet’s distinctive “tact” watches, appears on the new Tradition 7097 model, and is overlapped by a retrograde seconds segment promoting optimal readability. The iconic “pare-chute” system positioned at 4 o’clock gives the watch a nice sense of symmetry.
While the watch culls inspiration from the past, it also looks toward the future with some interesting technical characteristics. The Tradition Automatique Seconde Rétrograde 7097 includes an inverted straight-line lever escapement with silicon horns and the silicon Breguet overcoil balance-spring, which serve to guarantee exceptional rating precision.
The case is available in 18k white or pink gold while the offset dial is a Hand-guilloché silvered 18K gold.
